Now Playing: New books!
Perry FL, Mar 12, 2008 - In the book Faux Elvis author Pat Cook delivers an
imaginative tale that explores the possibility that Elvis Presley, the King of Rock
and Roll, is still alive.
Ever since Elvis died of a drug overdose in 1977, there have been those who claim
that the King is not really dead, that he is spending the remainder of his life in
solitude, living a more humble existence. What if these people are right?
Kasey Costello, a young reporter fresh from journalism school and eager to prove
herself, is sitting on the story any reporter-experienced or rookie alike-would
sell his soul to tell to the world. Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, was still
alive! Yet the affable and enigmatic man she has befriended wants to reveal himself
to the world in his own way, in his own time. Will Kasey be able to keep his secret,
or will her ambition to succeed drive her to make the scoop of a lifetime, even if it
means betraying a man she has come to admire?
JP continued to stare out the window. He turned, looked around the empty
restaurant, and then he slowly let his gaze fall upon Kasey. He began to talk slowly.
"My brother's name was Jesse Garon." He paused, still afraid to open the
Pandora's box of his secret. "My brother's name was Jesse Garon Presley...and my
name is Elvis Presley." A release, a reprieve, a great burden had risen like the
phoenix from its sleep. Elvis sighed and fell silent.
Kasey inhaled a deep breath of shock. "But, he died! You died! Everybody saw the
picture of the body. The media frenzy. The crowds. You're kidding, right?"
"See, I told you, you would not believe me!" He frowned and looked back out the
window.
"No! No! You're not kidding, are you? You're serious?" Her mouth fell open.
Elvis continued looking out the window. Kasey closed her mouth and stared in
stunned silence at JP-Elvis. Five minutes of silence passed. "JP...Elvis tell me.
Tell me what happened."
